Overall Design Concept
The main hall is the core of a residence and the face of a family. It is a sacred space that embodies traditional Chinese family etiquette and cultural spirit. This set of seven redwood main hall pieces strictly follows traditional regulations, using precious redwood as the material and the ancient craftsmanship as the soul, recreating the dignity of hosting guests, the sincerity of sacrifices, and the importance of inheritance of the noble families. It is not only furniture but also a miniature family ancestral hall and ceremonial space, demonstrating an incomparable majesty, order, and inheritance within a small area.
Core Components and Their Meanings
A complete set of seven main hall pieces usually includes:
1. Curved Head Table: The core background and visual center. Placed on the north wall of the hall, it is solemn and imposing. On the table, there are ancestral tablets, important offerings, or precious items. On both sides, the curved heads resemble eaves, symbolizing “looking up for good luck and rising step by step”.
2. Eight Immortals Table: The symbol of the center of the space and order. Placed in front of the table, it is square and grand, serving as the center for family meals and meetings. Strictly adhering to the philosophy of “heaven is round and earth is square”, it symbolizes the stability and rules of the family.
3. Grand Master Chair (two): The embodiment of authority and status. Placed on either side of the Eight Immortals Table, they are the seats for the family head or the most honored guests. The design is grand, the materials are heavy, and it showcases an unquestionable noble identity.
4. Official Hat Chair (or stool) as an accessory: The extension of etiquette and order. Placed symmetrically on both sides of the Grand Master Chair, they are for other family members or guests. Together with the Grand Master Chair, they form a clear hierarchy and order between elders and juniors, reflecting traditional ethical values.”
