Lamp-attached chair

分类: 标签:

A unique chair with a memory deeply rooted in Chinese culture. The famous “Han Xichai’s Night Banquet” was painted by Gu Hongzhong, a painter from the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, upon the order of the emperor. It accurately depicts the scene of the banquet held by the minister Han Xichai of the Southern Tang Dynasty. All the chairs depicted in the painting are armchairs with protruding ends at both sides of the backrest. As the main chair used by the nobility, it is elegant and imposing, and it is also equipped with a chair cover. Mr. Wang Shixiang described the lamp-supported chair in his book “Research on Ming-style Furniture” as “an armchair with protruding armrests” and “a chair with a relatively wide surface and a higher proportion of the backrest, and the backrest is made of wooden boards”, which can almost precisely summarize our understanding of the lamp-supported chair.
